On this Veteran’s Day

I’ve always loved Veteran’s Day. It’s wonderful to have a day to reflect on those who have served our great nation. I remember landing on American soil when I moved back home from Belgium. There’s something special about our air, our land, and our pride. I’m forever grateful to those who have served and continue to serve to protect the freedoms of our great nation.

I’m thankful for my husband Larry. He was a veteran less than 2 years out of high school. Larry served as a gunner on a Humvee looking for roadside bombs. Yeah. It’s definitely not as simple as that sounds, but I’m proud of his service and honored to be married to a man who loves his country enough to be willing to sacrifice his life.

I’m grateful for my grandpas. Both served – one in the Army and one as a Marine. Both remarkable men – I’m grateful for the legacy of national pride they left to their children and grandchildren.

I’m grateful for my uncles. One served in the Air Force, one in the Army, and one on the Police force. They and their families devoted their lives to protecting the peace of our great nation. Thank you Mike, John, and Marvin (RIP).

There are many others, too. Several who left this Earth too young – Kaufmann, Arruda, Rae… We won’t forget you.

Thank you to the families of our service members. Thank you to the camaraderie within the armed forces.

Thank you to our great God for protecting our nation. I pray He will continue to watch over our nation and our service members.

God bless America!

Thank you Veterans.
